BSAC Twinset Diver Course -  2 day course teaching how to ensure you carry sufficient gas for your planned dive and appropriate configuration methods

A central theme running through this course and a basic principle of twin-set diving is self sufficiency within a buddy diving context. This concept translates in practice as adopting an attitude and equipment provision that supports oneself as the first port of call response for resolving a problem. This course complements and support the Accelerated decompression procedures course (ADP).

Entry requirement
Entry level is BSAC Sports Diver with depth expereince to 35m, plus 20 additional dives.
Alternatively, students must hold an acceptable diving qualification with another agency which equates to the above standards (35m).

What you’ll learn
The Twin-set Diving course has a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons, teaching you:

• Configurations, Ancillary Equipment & Failure Mode Responses
• Dive planning and monitoring
• Practical Equipment configuration
• Open Water practice

What is the cost
€195.00 inc Course Material, qualification, 12l twinset and weights

Accelerated Decompression Procedures
Building on the foundation of Nitrox knowledge contained within Ocean Diver and Sports Diver training, the course develops this knowledge and in particular highlights the benefits that can be gained from using high oxygen mixtures to improve the efficiency of off gassing during decompression stops. This course takes your diving to a higher level.

Entry requirement
Entry level is BSAC Sports Diver who has completed the 2007 syllabus (with nitrox content) and has been endorsed as a Nitrox Diver, plus 20 additional dives including depth experience to 30 metres.
Alternatively, applicants must hold an acceptable diving and nitrox qualification with another agency which equates to the above standards. All students must hold gold standard buoyancy from the Buoyancy and Trim BSAC workshop.

What you’ll learn
The Accelerated Decompression Procedures course has a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons, teaching you:

• Knowledge of safe diving using Nitrox and accelerated decompression techniques
• Use of gas mixes up to 80% oxygen
• New concepts and skills
• Dive planning

What is the cost
€290.00 inc Course Material, qualification, 12l twinset and weights

BSAC Sports Mixed Gas (50m) Diver
The benefit of using gas mixes containing helium is controlling to an extent, the effect of nitrogen narcosis. The narcotic effect of nitrogen becomes debilitating as depth increases. Controlling the narcotic effect of the gas at depth enables improved awareness, therefore safer than deep air diving.

This course introduces divers to mixed gas diving using open circuit dive equipment. It teaches experienced divers to use mixed gas to expand their current skills to be able to dive a maximum depth of 50 metres using the most appropriate gas mix. The course uses gas mixes of oxygen greater than or equal to 20% and helium less than or equal to 30%.

Entry requirement
This course is open to all BSAC Sports Diver (or acceptable alternative) with depth qualification to 35 metres with 60 logged dives. Also be a BSAC Advanced Nitrox Diver or BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures Diver (or equivalent).

What you’ll learn
• Theory of mixed gas diving
• Equipment and Decompression System
• Physiology
• Practical diving techniques

What is the cost
€540.00 inc Course Material, qualification, 12l twinset, stage cylinders and weights
€295.00 7 nights B&B accommodation package

BSAC Explorer Mixed Gas (60m) Diver
BSAC Sports & Explorer Gas Combined (60m)
The benefit of using gas mixes containing helium is controlling to an extent, the effect of nitrogen narcosis. The narcotic effect of nitrogen becomes debilitating as depth increases. Controlling the narcotic effect of the gas at depth enables improved awareness, therefore safer than deep air diving.

You can extend your mixed gas diving skills and depth certification with this course. It teaches experienced open circuit divers to use mixed gas to expand their current o be able to dive a maximum depth of 60 metres. The course uses gas mixes of oxygen greater than or equal to 18% and helium less than or equal to 35%.

Entry requirement
This course is open to all BSAC Sports Mixed Gas divers (or acceptable alternative) with 30 logged dives in the 30 to 50 metre range.

Students with suitable experience and core skills can combine the Sports and Explorer Mixed Gas courses in one event but the qualification awarded will be dependent on overall performance.

What you’ll learn
• Extending open-water skills
• Equipment preparation
• Dive planning
• Deeper diving
